BILL QUINN - DEATHS ELSEWHERE

(St. Louis Post-Dispatch) ; 05-04-1994

Actor BILL QUINN, 81, whose career began in vaudeville and included the role of a wise blind bar patron on "Archie Bunker's Place," died Friday (April 29, 1994) in Camarillo, Calif.
Mr. Quinn was the father-in-law of comedian Bob Newhart.

His film credits include "Advise and Consent" and "Star Trek V" .He made his stage debut at age 5 with the Quinn Brothers, a vaudeville children's act. At a young age, he landed Broadway roles in such productions as "Winterset" and "Daddies." On radio, he performed with the Mercury Playhouse troupe and in "Gangbusters" and "The FBI in Peace and War."

In television, he had recurring roles as the bartender Sweeney on "The Rifleman," and the sage Mr. Van Ranseleer, a regular customer at the bar of "Archie Bunker's Place."
